E’ arrivato in redazione il messaggio, che riportiamo di seguito, inviato da B.D, un ragazzo italiano che studia a Londra, ai suoi docenti e ai suoi colleghi, in cui chiede la sospensione immediata delle lezioni all’Università (per le quali si profila una possibile chiusura il 23 marzo) denunciando il modo irresponsabilità in cui il governo di Boris Johnson sta gestendo l’emergenza Coronavirus nel Regno Unito. Self Isolation se hai sintomi di raffreddore è l’unica misura finora adottata nel paese. Gli atenei continuano ad essere affollati, così le metropolitane, i bar, le strade.
Hi guys I just wanted to comunicate to you all that I will no longer come to uni unless strictly necessary and will work from home till the situation has got better. Mine is an openly political choice: I personally find disgusting how the situation has been handeled so far, both on a micro (uni) and macroscopic(gov) level. From what I hear on the news everyday, and from my analysis of the present situation, the U.K., which has freshly stepped out of the E.U. and is rightfully scared by the Brexit economical side effects, is shamefully trying not to stop its economy, is delaying and spacing the shutdown of the nation (so its economical activity) and ignoring the health of its citizens.
What I find more disgusting is how this, again, actually tryes to go along and find its justification in the values of the arbitrarely called “free will”, “self-determination” and the myth of the individual. I can’t let Mr. Johnson tell me that “we will lose our loved ones” and that, on the other hand, as long as we wash our hands and we don’t worry, don’t think, don’t protest, don’t rise up our voices it will be all fine.
I can’t read that the 80% of the U.K. population will be infected and that the 1% of that 80% (which,still, is a lot) will die and not take action. I want to point out how this communication is not driven by the fear of death; in fact I am perfectly aware of the fact that even if I will get infected, the chances of me dying is very low. Again, mine is a POLITICAL action against a country and a system that is ready to sacrifice its citizens (whatever age they are and whatever underlying health conditions they have) to not lose its global hegemony and to not lose the USA favours and its economical supremacy.
I’m even more fed up and political when I “casually” notice that, on a geopolitical level, the devide between the coutries taking action towards the virus ( E.U., Russia, China and Middle East -especially Iran-) and not taking action towards the virus (U.S.A., U.K. and Germany – America’s informal colony – as the rest of Europe, and that worries me as european) perfectly reflects the factions in Iran for the procurement of oil.
In fact the two main blocks fighting over Iran, which is now the economical medium for oil procurement between middle eastern coutries and the global powers, are: Russia, China inconsistently helped by european sympaties VS. USA (+ informal colonies such as the South America) followed by its british pet. How these two facts relates to each other? Easy, Iran is moving towards the ”eastern block’s” economical influence ( and that’s why Trump decided to assassin two iranian generals), which puts U.S.A. and co. (so U.K.) in a position of hegemonical disadvantage and does not allow any economic breakdown’s. Moreover, although the mayor of London Sadiq Khan proudly proclames NHS as the best national health system in the world, I am genuenly worried about the capacity of hospitals ( wheter its is just a “bad flu” or not) and the narrowness of medical supplies, which a Welfare State nation is meant to provide regardless, to EVERYONE. I have gone too far but this is just to justify my position towards the shameful business of theese rich neoliberal barbarians. These are not my values, this is not what I believe in, so I’d rather stay home. (in fondo la traduzione)

Dear students, if there is a majority of you who would like to shift to virtual workshops and tutorials, the entire studio could shift to online teaching even if the campus is open. Please bear in mind though that this will not be as effective as analogue, we won’t be able to discuss as much and some communication is lost online – as I am sure you all have experienced at some point. This is for you to decide democratically. We will adapt to the preference of the group. I would recommend you organise an online voting and confirm the results on here before the end of the weekend.

Salve ragazzi, volevo solo comunicarvi che non verrò più alla Università se non sarà strettamente necessario e lavorerò da casa fino a quando la situazione non sarà migliorata. La mia è una scelta apertamente politica: personalmente trovo disgustoso il modo in cui la situazione è stata gestita finora, sia a livello micro (uni) che macroscopico (gov).
Da quello che sento ogni giorno attraverso le notizie e dalla mia analisi della situazione attuale, il Regno Unito, che è appena uscito dalla Ue, ed è giustamente spaventato dagli effetti collaterali economici della Brexit, sta vergognosamente cercando di non fermare la sua economia, sta ritardando la chiusura della nazione (quindi la sua attività economica), ingnorando la salute dei suoi cittadini.
Quello che trovo più disgustoso è che si cerchi nel fare questo giustificazione nei valori del arbitrariamente chiamato “libero arbitrio”, dell’ “autodeterminazione” e del mito dell’individuo. Non posso permettere che il signor Johnson mi dica che “perderemo i nostri cari” e che, d’altra parte, finché ci laviamo le mani e non ci preoccupiamo, non pensiamo, non protestiamo , non alziamo la voce, andrà tutto bene.
Non posso leggere che l’80% della popolazione del Regno Unito sarà contagiata dal virus e che l’1% di tale 80% (che, comunque, è molto) morirà e non si prenderanno provvedimenti.
Voglio sottolineare che questa mia comunicazione non è guidata dalla paura della morte; sono perfettamente consapevole del fatto che anche se fossi stato contagiato, in virtù della mia età le possibilità statistiche che io muoia sono molto basse.
Ripeto, la mia è una presa di posizio POLITICA contro un paese e un sistema che è pronto a sacrificare i suoi cittadini (indipendentemente dall’età e dalle condizioni di salute di base) per non perdere la sua egemonia globale, la sua supremazia economica e non perdere i favori degli USA.
Ritengo inaccettabile constatare anche in maniera casuale, come anche a livello geopolitico il divario tra i paesi che agiscono nei confronti del virus (UE, Russia, Cina e Medio Oriente, in particolare l’Iran) e quelli che non prendono iniziative (USA, Regno Unito e Germania – la colonia informale americana – come il resto dell’Europa, e questo mi preoccupa in quanto europeo) riflette perfettamente i blocchi che si contendono l’Iran per il petrolio: Russia, Cina, appoggiati in maniera inconsistente da simpatizzani europei e Stati Uniti ( e le sue colonie informali come il Sud America) seguito dal suo cagnolino britannico.
Come si collegano questi due fatti? Facile, l’Iran si sta muovendo verso l’influenza economica del “blocco orientale” (ed è per questo che Trump ha deciso di assassinare due generali iraniani), il che mette gli Stati Uniti e altri paesi (come il Regno Unito) in una posizione di svantaggio egemonico e non consente alcuna ripartizione economica.
Va inoltre detto, che se il sindaco di Londra Sadiq Khan proclama con orgoglio che il SSN è il miglior sistema sanitario nazionale al mondo, io sono sinceramente preoccupato per la capacità degli ospedali (che il coronavirus sia solo una “cattiva influenza” o meno) e la scarsità di mezzi sanitari , che una nazione che pratica il welfare dello Stato sociale dovrebbe fornire a TUTTI, a TUTTI. Sono andato troppo lontano, ma questo è solo per spiegare la mia posizione nei confronti del vergognoso affair di questi ricchi barbari neoliberisti. Questi non sono i miei valori, non è quello in cui credo, quindi preferirei restare a casa.
