Il “cantiere” Egitto e le sue priorità/About the Egyptian economy

0

Egypt is actually a big construction site; lot of projects on the waiting list. For Europe, it is not at all convenient to see 90 million Egyptians ready to cross the Mediterranean Sea. The coming Economic conference for Egypt in February 2015 is crucially important to give a big push.

Meanwhile, Egypt is facing the terrorists who want to stop or to slow down its development. They need destroyed countries to rule them.

Priority for Egypt:

Canale di Suez

Canale di Suez

– Discovery and exploitation of new natural gas resources

– Renewable energy production

– New Suez Canal and all related projects

– Creating new highways and railways and maintenance of the actual network

– Hospitals, schools and universities: Old renewal and building new

= Slums: development and building new areas in replacement of the old ones.

– Education: Review of all educational curriculum, technical schools, universities, Azhar curriculum, excluding all “ISIS” traces in our programs and adding all what we need to get a citizen ready to work with any technology in any part of the world.

– Basic needs: Clean water supply, sewage system, basic education. Still a big challenge.

Egypt near agreement with Italy’s Eni over revised gas prices (Nov 10, 2014)

Egypt is near an agreement with Italian oil major Eni to offer the company a more competitive price for the natural gas it extracts in the energy-short country, an Egyptian official told Reuters on Monday.Mahfouz El-Bony, vice chairman for agreement and exploration at state-owned gas company EGAS, did not say what the new price would be or when the deal would be finalised. But he said the existing price of $2.65 per million British thermal units (mmBtu) was “not economically feasible” for companies. “The price … is not becoming competitive for investors to develop as the cost of drilling and the development plans is all increasing”, he said, suggesting that the government may pay a higher price.Bony, who was speaking on the sidelines of an energy event in Abu Dhabi, said the talks were related to Eni’s offshore Mediterranean concession.Eni was not immediately available for comment.Steadily declining gas production and foreign firms’ wariness about any increase in investment have combined with price subsidies and rising consumption to create Egypt’s worst energy crisis in decades.

Egypt awards new gas exploration rights to Italy’s ENI (25 Sep 2014)

Three blocks in the Western Desert and Mediterranean should help Egypt cope with rising energy demands

Italian multinational oil and gas company ENI announced on Thursday that it has won three concessions in Egypt’s Western Desert and the Mediterranean in bids held in December of last year.

The Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) awarded ENI full operationship of an onshore block located in the Western Desert, covering an area of 2,058 square km, said a statement from EGPC.

In addition, Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) awarded ENI two deep-water blocks near Cyprus’ nautical border in the Mediterranean Sea.

ENI will be fully responsible for operations in the North Leil offshore block, which covers 5,105 square km, at a depth ranging from 2,100 to 2,800 metres.

British Petroleum will be ENI’s partner in the second Mediterranean block, Karawan offshore, covering 4,565 square km at a depth ranging from 2,000 to 2,500 metres.

The block is located in Egypt’s Western desert, near the Melehia Development Lease, in which the Company has a participating interest. The new license covers an area of 2,058 square kilometers.

As a result of the EGAS bid round, Eni will become the operator of Block 9 and Block 8, located in deep offshore waters of the Mediterranean Sea, near the boundary with Cypriot waters.

Claudio Descalzi, Eni’s CEO, said: “I am very pleased with the acquisition of these new exploration permits which further strengthens our presence in Egypt, a historically and strategically important country for Eni.”

Eni has been present since 1954 and is currently one of the largest international energy players in the country, with a hydrocarbon equity production of approximately 220,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.

– Produzione dell’energie rinnovabili

Egypt awards new gas exploration rights to Italy’s ENI (25 Sep 2014)
