Tunisia Parliamentary elections – Elezioni parlamentari in Tunisia

0

An election for the 217 seat National Assembly is scheduled to be held in Tunisia on 26 October 2014. With over 1,327 candidate lists, these elections will provide Tunisians with many choices ahead of the first round of presidential elections slated for November 23 of this year. 5,285,136 Tunisians are registered to vote for both the parliamentary and presidential elections, including 359,530 out-of-country voters. They will vote in10,569 polling stations in Tunisia and 405 stations outside of the country.

Voter registration

As of July 26, a total of 705,958 new voters have registered 45 percent are younger than age of 30 and 50 percent are women. What does it mean? It means that the Tunisians are very concerned about these elections.

Hackers

Hackers have briefly disrupted online voter registration for elections in Tunisia later this year.  What does it mean? It means that the Islamists are trying to prevent the Tunisians from voting.

The Muslim Brotherhood

According to Asharq Al-Awsat the coming campaign is likely to be dominated by economic concerns and public fears of the rise of Islamist parties to power. Nidaa Tounes leader Sebsi said recently his party would not be joining any coalition with Ennahda until the Islamist group was clearer about its relationship with the Muslim Brotherhood”. What does it mean? It means that the Muslim Brotherhood issue is in the center of these elections. What happened in Egypt must, in theory, affect the Tunisian elections. But after the victory of Erdogan, every thing is possible when the Islamists are in power.

Ennahda popularity

According to Al Monitor, a careful reading of Tunisia’s reality indicates that there is something moving and growing amid the lawlessness and the expanding radical groups. That may reflect negatively on Ennahda’s political position because Ennahda was the first to legalize the jihadist Salafist movement and turned a blind eye to its involvement in violent acts, before retreating and declaring Ansar al-Sharia a terrorist group. Ennahda’s popularity declined under internal pressure. Then came the events in Egypt, where the Muslim Brotherhood and former President Mohammed Morsi were overthrown on July 3, 2013.

Ennahda lies

Ennahda has re-formulated its political tactics and foreign positions and declared that it was a Tunisian movement that had nothing to do with the international Muslim Brotherhood organization.

More lies

Ghannouchi said that in order to establish a sustainable democracy in the country, he is not going to run for president or get involved in heavy polemics with his political rivals during the general elections in October. By following his usual political prudence, Ghannouchi claimed that their goal is to win democracy for the country, not the upcoming elections. What does it mean? It means that they are trying to show that they are not so concerned about these elections which, according to me, are not right. They will do everything possible and impossible to get the biggest bloc in the Parliament. How?

According to Al Jazeera, Tunisia voters shun upcoming elections.

Hamza Zaghoud, a 25-year-old translator from Al-Kaf, also planned to boycott the elections. “I think all of the political parties are way too similar,” he told Al Jazeera. “I don’t feel represented by any of them. In general, there is not enough push for personal freedoms,” adding that Tunisia’s youth “are not represented enough” by post-revolutionary politicians.

Tunis learning from Egypt

tunisiaAccording to Intissar Fakir everybody in Tunis is learning from Egypt Ennahda’s leadership seems to have learnt an important lesson from the experience of Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood, which prioritised a quick ascent to power over a strategy to entrench itself in the political system. The party’s leaders understand that Ennahda will benefit from promoting a political system that makes use of its popularity but keeps it insulated from a backlash from the old security state. Nidaa Tounes is driven by its own lesson from Egypt: Islamist politics must be stopped. In the party’s view, these elections may be the last opportunity to prevent Islamists embedding themselves within the political culture.

Terrorists’ assassination?

According to Al Arabiya News  Tunisia is wary of terrorist threat ahead of elections. Political analyst al-Ajmi al-Qasimi said: “Let’s consider the scenario in which terrorists succeed in assassinating a political figure; that would easily disrupt the elections season”.

Euro news coverage

Tunisia polls to refresh democratic compromise. Four years after the revolution, people are still suffering from day-to-day costs, frustrated with politicians. They’re fed up waiting for promises that have taken too long to be honoured.

Elections poll

According to Sigma (May 2014), Call for Tunis will get 41.3% and Ennahda 24% . According to Emrhod (March 2014), Call for Tunis will get 25.7% and Ennahda 20.9%. According to 3C Etudes (December 2013) Call for Tunis will get 27.2% and Ennahda 31.6%. Source

Non-Islamists division

The unique chance for Ennahda to win is to compete against hundreds of non-Islamists parties. These stupid non-Islamists who failed to be unified in one list will allow Ennahda to win with 30% and to  decide who will have the honor to sit under their feet.

Elezioni parlamentari in Tunisia

I Fratelli Musulmani

Come?

Secondo Intissar Fakir tutti a Tunisi stanno imparando dall’Egitto.

I sondaggi sulle elezioni
