State Dept. Misled Reporters About Meeting with Muslim Brotherhood
The State Department admitted on Monday that it misled reporters about a recent delegation of Muslim Brotherhood leaders and allies who were hosted for a meeting with officials at Foggy Bottom. State Department spokeswoman Jennifer Psaki claimed last week that the controversial delegation of key Brotherhood leaders and allies had been “organized and funded by GeorgetownUniversity.” However, the university denied this is the case when reached by the Washington Free Beacon. The State Department meeting was attended by a deputy assistant secretary for democracy, human rights, and labor and other State Department officials. While Psaki continued to defend the decision to host the Brotherhood allies at the State Department, she clarified that Georgetown actually had nothing to do with the delegation. “Unfortunately, I didn’t have the accurate information on one small piece. The meeting was set up by the Center for the Study of Islam and Democracy, a nonprofit. So the visit was not funded, as you know, by us or the U.S. Government, but it was also not funded by Georgetown,” Psaki said.

Egypt urges EU to close ‘Brotherhood TV channels’
Egypt’s Foreign Ministry on Tuesday urged EU countries to shut pro-Muslim Brotherhood television channels that broadcast via European satellites. At a meeting with EU ambassadors to Cairo, Egyptian Deputy Foreign Minister for European Affairs Hatem Seif el-Nasr urged them to “shut town channels that support the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood organization that are broadcasting through European satellites.” “These channels incite violence and killing in Egypt,” Seif al-Nasr said at the meeting, which was attended by an Anadolu Agency correspondent. Seif al-Nasr also stressed the need to “monitor extremist websites that broadcast violent messages and incite violence and cut funding for these extremist groups.” On Sunday, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said it was in talks with certain European governments to convince them to take pro-Muslim Brotherhood satellite channels off the air. Il Ministero degli Esteri egiziano martedì ha esortato i paesi dell’Ue a chiudere i canali televisivi pro-musulmani che trasmettono via satelliti europei. In una riunione con gli ambasciatori dell’Unione europea al Cairo, il vice ministro egiziano degli Esteri per gli Affari europei, Hatem Seif el-Nasr, li ha esortati a “chiudere i canali della città che sostengono l’organizzazione terrorista dei Fratelli Musulmani che stanno trasmettendo attraverso satelliti europei”. “Questi canali incitano alla violenza e all’uccisione in Egitto”, ha detto Seif al-Nasr nel corso della riunione, alla quale ha partecipato un corrispondente di Anadolu Agency.
