Italy and Egypt stand united against terrorism: one destiny, one decision.
No doubt that Matteo Renzi surprised us with his vision in which we felt that a new chapter between Europe and Egypt started already.
Speaking in a 50 minutes joint press conference with the Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, in a warm ambience, Al-Sisi said there is “no alternative” to the Egyptian proposal, a sentiment shared by the Italian who stressed his nation’s support for the plan.
Al-Sisi stressed that the initiative is “capable of opening doors” for longer lasting solutions to the situation in the Gaza Strip, home to 1.8 million Palestinians and he sent an urgent appeal to stop the bloodshed in Gaza.

If Europe will not reconsider its vision towards the Middle East, Europe will be lost. For this reason, Europe must interfere to restore Egypt’s role, especially for the fact that we have the same destiny.
The European Union must restructure a number of its foreign policies especially regarding the Middle East.
If Europe will not be able to look to the Middle East, nothing will happen. Without Egypt and its regional role we will not be able to make any move. We have a common destiny and we share a unique decision.
The situation in Libya requires a rapid intervention to stop all this violence and I agree with Sisi’s vision.
In the European Union we need a stronger foreign policy.

To have power means to have responsibility. The more you have power, the more you are responsible, referring to the European countries.
Europe must invest in our region to stop illegal emigration as well as terrorism who flourish in poor areas. People emigrate because they are looking for job.
We must find a radical solution for Gaza crisis, giving hope for the Palestinians by establishing their State with East Jerusalem as capital and providing security and peace for Israel.
Libya’s borders with Egypt are more than 1000 km and are used in smuggling illegal weapons. We are defending these borders without getting any help,
El-Sisi sent a message to the Egyptian people urging them to be patient and to collaborate with the State. Suddenly he remembered that the Italian Prime Minister is standing on his side. Sisi smiled and said: We are in a conference with our European friends!
The elimination of terrorism and extremism will take time and a long-term plan, stressing that Egypt is fighting a real war of existence in which it will be decided if Egypt will continue to exist or not.

Our strategy is to deal with ignorance, poverty and extremism, as well as the rigidity of the religious speech, pointing to the importance of the development of the religious speech in order to be able to confront extremism.
Italy is an important trading partner to Egypt, with a trade volume of $ 6 billion. He congratulated Italy for the presidency of the European Union.

Non c’è alcun dubbio che Matteo Renzi ci abbia sorpreso. Attraverso le sue parole, la visione che hanno trasmesso all’Egitto, sentiamo che un nuovo capitolo tra Europa ed Egitto è già iniziato. Se l’Europa non riconsidererà il suo punto di vista in Medio Oriente, sarà perduta. E’ per questo che deve darsi da fare per restituire un ruolo all’Egitto, soprattutto perché noi abbiamo lo stesso destino, ha detto Renzi.
L’Europa, ha aggiunto il premier italiano, deve rivedere molte delle linee della sua politica estera, in particolare per quanto riguarda il Medio Oriente. Se non lo saprà fare, resterà ferma. Senza l’Egitto e il suo ruolo nella regione non saremo in grado di fare nessuna mossa. Noi abbiamo un comune destino e dobbiamo condividere un’unica decisione.
Anche la situazione in Libia richiede un rapido intervento per fermare le violenze e su questo condivido la vision di Sisi. In Europa abbiamo bisogno di una politica estera più forte.
al-Sisi, va trovata soluzione radicale per Gaza
Avere potere significa avere responsabilità. Più potere hai e più sei responsabile. E questo vale ovunque e per chiunque anche per l’Europa. L’Europa deve investire nella nostra regione per fermare l’emigrazione illegale, come anche il terrorismo che fiorisce nelle aree povere. La gente se ne va perché cerca lavoro.
Noi dobbiamo trovare una soluzione radicale alla crisi di Gaza, dare speranza al popolo palestinese di costruire il proprio stato con Gerusalemme est capitale e garantire sicurezza e pace per Israele, ha sottolineato il presidente al-Sisi.
I confini della Libia con l’Egitto corrono lungo oltre mille chilometri e sono utilizzati per il traffico di armi. Noi stiamo cercando di difendere questi confini senza usufruire di nessun aiuto.
Al-Sisi ha anche volute inviare un messaggio al popolo egiziano, chiedendogli di essere paziente e di collaborare con lo stato. Poi si è ricordato che al suo fianco c’era il premier italiano. Al-Sisi ha sorriso e ha detto: noi siamo in conferenza stampa con gli amici europei. E ha parlato del terrorismo. Per eradicare terrorismo ed estremismo ci vuole tempo e un piano a lungo termine, ha spiegato sottolineando come l’Egitto stia combattendo, da questo punto di vista, una vera guerra di sopravvivenza, che deciderà il suo destino.
Renzi, la Libia e il terrorismo
Il 96% degli immigrati illegali che attraversano il Mediterraneo arrivano dalla Libia. La soluzione del problema è legato alla soluzione della crisi libica.
Quanto alla battaglia dell’Egitto contro il terrorismo sarà una battaglia a lungo termine. E a questo proposito il premier italiano ha confermato il pieno supporto dell’Italia.

La comunità internazionale ha una responsabilità sociale, politica e umanitaria nei confronti della Libia, ha detto il presidente egiziano, dichiarandosi d’accordo con il premier italiano sulla necessità di un continuo confronto sulla situazione.
